Bully Busters
Our team at Kylemore Secondary said: “With the Grade 10 to 12 learners, we touched on the topic of trauma and violence. These sessions created a safe space for learners to reflect on how violence in communities, homes, or society can impact mental health and emotional wellbeing. Learners were encouraged to speak honestly, build empathy for others, and understand the importance of seeking support when dealing with difficult experiences.
.
For the Grade 9 learners, we focused on bullying. We discussed the different forms bullying can take, the harm it causes, and the importance of standing up for one another with kindness and respect. Learners were reminded of the power of words and actions, and how creating a culture of support can make school a safer and happier place for everyone.
.
With the Grade 8 learners, we presented “A Piece of Me – The Puzzle.” This activity encouraged learners to think about their identity, strengths, emotions, and the different pieces that make them who they are. It was a creative and reflective session that helped learners understand their value and uniqueness while also learning how each person contributes something special to the bigger picture. The sessions were impactful and rewarding. We are proud to continue supporting our learners holistically, helping them grow emotionally and socially, while building a school community rooted in care, understanding, and resilience.”

Thanks to our generous funders, twenty-two (22) of our counsellors attended the Bully Busters training course this week. The added benefit to the knowledge and experience gained is that this course is accredited which means that they earn their CPD (continuous professional development) credits needed to keep their qualification current.
Our staff are fortunate to have these opportunities and we are incredibly grateful for funders who invest in our counselling services, awareness campaigns and our staff training. Thank you.
