Box-Breathing Technique for Primary School Children

“The body benefits from movement, and the mind benefits from stillness.” Sakyong Mipham

We print out these posters and place them in the hallways at school.  We often see learners pausing to follow the familiar instructions or to show their friends how the technique works.  There are many benefits to mindfulness through breathing such as:

  • Increased focus, attention, self-control, classroom participation and compassion.
  • Improved academic performance, ability to resolve conflict and improved overall well-being.
  • Decreased levels of stress, depression, anxiety and  disruptive behaviour.
  • Improved ability to adapt to stressful situations.
