2024 showed us something important: we build stronger school communities when we work together. Wellbeing isn’t separate from daily life. It’s in the way we treat each other, how we listen, and how we care. In our 2024 Annual Report, we share what we’ve done, what we’ve learned, and why it matters.

At Community Keepers, we’re using an ecosystem model. This means looking at how people and places are all connected. When we support one learner, one teacher, or one school, we help the whole community. Thank you to our partners and supporters. Your trust and care make our work possible. We’re growing something meaningful. Join us as we keep building, together.

Many children come to school carrying heavy burdens. Not all learning environments feel safe or supportive. Educators are doing their best in challenging circumstances. As one teacher recently shared:

“Behavioural challenges at the school have escalated significantly, to the point where an educator had to seek legal intervention. This month, the same group of learners attended school under the influence of substances. Some of these learners are clients of CK and are enrolled in group therapy. Many come from extremely challenging backgrounds and carry deep emotional wounds. In most cases, their behaviour reflects the underlying struggles they face. We remain committed to providing a safe space to support their healing process.”

In this report, you’ll read about our WHO-5 wellbeing surveys, where we simply ask educators: “How are you?” The results might surprise you.

As we come to the end of our partnership with National Treasury’s Jobs Fund, m&esure were commissioned to write a Summative Evaluation and said:

“CK’s job creation model has effectively created quality employment within mental health, social work, and education sectors. The jobs created offer substantial professional growth, skill enhancement, and clear career progression, aligning with permanent job creation and innovation objectives. Employees gain structured experience in therapeutic interventions and counselling, significantly boosting their employability. High job satisfaction, indicated by 81% of staff intending long-term employment, reflects the model’s sustainability.”

As this chapter closes, we invite you to read the full evaluation and see how meaningful employment and wellbeing go hand in hand.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Whether you’re a partner, supporter, or friend of Community Keepers, your connection strengthens the ecosystem we are building—one of safety, compassion, and collective wellbeing.

Best regards,
Gerrit and the CK Team
