The value of “lived experience”

.
This year we welcomed Care Facilitators into our teams after a successful pilot project. Amanda checked in with some of our therapists and this is what they said:
.
“The CF is very needed in our offices, with all the new responsibilities, one person would not have been able to carry the load.”
.
“… it is also helpful to have a colleague at the office to plan and bounce certain things off her. Her familiarity with the area and culture is especially valuable.”
“It has made my work lighter and has strengthened my hand knowing I can rely on my CF in all areas of my work.”
“She has a heart for helping the CK clients, is dedicated to her work and has strong interpersonal skills.”
.
“My CF has excellent interpersonal skills as well as existing relationships at my school and within the local community. She has good conflict management and mediation skills. She shares the language and culture of many of the students.”
.
“Her strength is her willingness to always assist. She will always ask me what it is that I need from her for the day, even if I am not at the office she will ask me to send her the priorities of the office for the day. She has great relationships with the teachers and staff at the school and, because of her, there has been a better buy in from the teachers at the particular school where it has been challenging. She has really been the greatest help for me specifically with translating. She has aided me in translating in my group work.”
.
“Very organized and is very familiar with the office and all procedures. She really runs the office, she manages it well and allows me the ability to strictly focus on therapy. She has been running groups effortlessly and I never have to worry that something is not done. She always gets the job done and does it with so much enthusiasm. Her strength is how much the children love and trust her. She also always helps me with translating and this has been a huge benefit for me.”
.
“Since the CF is available to do admin and concentrate on waiting list check ins, and other tasks, this frees you more time for therapy clients.”
.
“There is room for her to grow in her confidence in her own ability. I am confident that with time and experience she will develop this confidence.”
.
“I believe she can grow in her confidence specifically in emergency situations – she at times can become easily frazzled but in reality she is more than able to handle the situations and I believe with more time and experience she will become more confident.”
“Initially, the adjustment of an extra person in the office took time. But I think we have successfully created systems and processes that work for us. And we continually re-evaluate and discuss them.”
“… the contribution of the CK has been extremely valuable.”
.
“I am so thankful for the changing model CK has introduced!”
“I enjoy her presence and find her to be very helpful. She truly has a heart for the clients and can understand context better than myself, many times.”
