Right now, in a classroom just down the road …

A teacher is trying to manage 48 learners. In the back row, a boy has started fighting over the smallest things. Two rows forward, a girl hasn’t spoken in a week. By the window, a child has stopped coming to school on Mondays.

Three children, three different signals, one teacher. Every one of them is saying the same thing: I can’t carry this alone.

It usually starts small. Perhaps a child knocks over some books. When no one asks why, it becomes shouting. Then fighting. Hurting others and, down the line, maybe even themselves. Then empty seats, as children stop coming to school altogether because it has stopped feeling safe.

By the time the behaviour is impossible to ignore, the pain has usually been there for months.

September starts the final, high-pressure countdown to the end of the school year. For kids already on the edge, the pressure is reaching a breaking point.

Our Community Keepers rooms are sometimes the only space these children have.

Helping one child to settle and contain those overwhelming feelings, helps mend their whole class. Once we sit with that child, order returns. The teacher can finally teach.

By funding a counselor, you don’t just help one person. You fix a fractured system. You bring peace back to a classroom, relief to a teacher, and hope.

We need you right now. Please will you give R345, today.
