CK partners with another school in District Six

Today Mrs Kellerman, Principal at Walmer Estate Primary, hosted us for a very special ribbon cutting ceremony; they are the 35th CK partner school and the sixth new site to open this year.  We were joined by our funding partners, the Otto Foundation and Capitec, and we gathered in their beautiful Protea Library for the speeches followed by tea and scones.

The school is painted a cheerful yellow and nestles against Table Mountain; if you turn the other way you look down over Cape Town harbour.  The library and the location are beautiful but many of the learners, most of whom commute, come from troubled communities.  Many of their families face daily hardship and this will be a safe space for learners and parents to find support.  In her speech, Mrs Kellerman referred to our location along the passage and described the CK office as “the light at the end of the tunnel/corridor”.

We look forward to meeting everyone and getting to know you.  At Community Keepers, everyone is welcome.
